AUSTIN, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jacket softball split a four-game series with Concordia University Texas (1-0,0-2,10-13,7-4) to finish the regular season in 3rd place in the American Southwest Conference West Division. Howard Payne will start post-season play this Thursday in the ASC tournament.
The Lady Jackets finish the regular season with a record of 25-15 overall and 16-8 in ASC play.
Ashley Silva had her best series as a Lady Jacket getting 6 hits on 12 at bats. Silva had 3 homeruns and 6 RBI in the series, 2 of those coming in game four of the series.
Cory Lee also hit solid at the plate recording 5 hits on 11 at bats, Lee had 1 triple, 2 doubles, and 5 RBI in the series.
Melissa Hall picked up a win for the Lady Jackets on Friday. In her two appearances she threw 9.0 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, striking-out 2 and walking 2. Jenna Middleton saw the most action for Howard Payne throwing 16.0 innings of work. Middleton struck-out 10 and only walked 2 in the series.
