HPU Has Strong Showing At ASC Crossover

TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team went 2-1 at the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament this weekend.

Howard Payne picked up their first win of the tournment on Friday over host University of Texas Tyler 3-0 (25-12,25-23,25-20). Tamika Heline led all with 14 kills and Amanda Gutierrez followed with 11 kills. The team had a .358 hitting pct for the match.

The Lady Jackets got another win on Saturday 3-0 (25-18,25-12,25-11) over LeTourneau University. Sydney Bryant and Guterriez led with eight kills each. Again HPU had a great hitting pct at .400.

HPU fell to #13 University of Texas Dallas 3-0 (25-21,25-15, 25-15) in their last match of the tournament. Heline finished with 18 kills.

Howard Payne now stands at 7-10 overall and 5-4 in ASC play. They will play on Tuesday in Abilene against McMurry University.
