BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne's Taylor Zambreski doubled in Royse Rodriquez in the bottom of the ninth to give the Yellow Jackets the 8-7 victory over the University of the Southwest Monday in non-conference action at Don Shepard Park.

Univ. of Southwest was able to score several runs in the opening innings on pass balls and wild pitches by Howard Payne. The HPU pitching staff settled down and the Jackets put runs on the board. Howard Payne forced an extra inning. 

Royse Rodriquez singled to center field to start the bottom of the 10th. A Jordan Hammondtree sac bunt mored Rodriquez to second base. Last season's ASC Freshman of the Year, Taylor Zambreski stepped to the plate and doubled to center field scoring Rodriquez to win the game.

Chase LePenna got the win for HPU throwing 2 scoreless innings with no hits and one walk. Royse Rodriquez recorded 3 hits for the Jackets. Hammondtree and Kyle Lloyd each had 2 RBI. Zambreski, Blake Shaffer and Dustin Climer had 2 hits each.

Jackets improve to 4-7 overall, while University of the Southwest fall to 8-8 overall.

The two teams will play a double-header tommorrow starting at 12:00 pm.
