Lady Jackets Winless At LCU Tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team went 0-4 at the Lubbock Christian University Tournament this weekend.

HPU's first match on day one was against host Lubbock Christian. The Lady Jackets dropped the match (16-25, 11-25, 17-25). Amanda Gutierrez led with 6 kills and 3 blocks, Amy Cardwell has 13 assists.

Game two on the game was a 0-3 loss to Wayland Baptist (18-25, 14-18, 18-25). Tamika Heline had nine kills and Kristin Hammond had 15 digs.

Day two the Lady Jackets had matches versus Texas Wesleyan University and Concordia Univ.(Neb). HPU dropped the first match 0-3 (15-25, 20-25, 21-25). Amanda Gutierrez led with 8 kills.

HPU played Concordia Univ. (Neb.) much closer but fell in the end 1-3 (25-22, 17-25, 7-25, 19-25). Tamika Heline led with 14 kills and 20 digs.

Howard Payne now stands at 2-7 overall and 0-1 on ASC play. HPU will play at home on Tuesday against McMurry University.
