Lady Jackets Finish Up At ASC Crossover

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball team when 0-3 at the second American Southwest Conference crossover tournment this weekend.

Howard Payne opened the tournament with a match against national ranked University of Texas - Dallas. HPU played tough and was able to take the Lady Comets to five games but fell 2-3 (25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 19-25, 18-16) in the match. Megan Pick led all with 17 kills followed by Temika Heline with 12. Amber Cantu-Curry had 40 assists.

On day two, the Lady Jackets took on East Texas Baptist. HPU fell in four games 1-3 (25-18, 25-18, 17-25, 25-18). Megan Pick and Temika Heline led with 13 and 11 kills respectively.

In the final match of the tournament for HPU, the Lady Jackets went to five game with LeTourneau University 2-3 (20-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-10).  Heline finished with 14 kills and Carlee Ammons added 11. Cantu-Curry had 44 assists.

Howard Payne now stands at 9-15 overall and 3-12 in ASC play. HPU will finsh out the regular season with three home matches. The first one will be on Tuesday, October 19th versus Concordia University Texas at 7:00 pm.
