AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team got a second period goal from Kevin Ruiz but Yellow Jackets when on to fall 3-1 to Concordia University Friday afternoon in conference action.

Concordia jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period with goals in the 20th and 22 minutes. For the game, both teams were close statistically with Concordia holding a slight advantage on shots in the first period and the Jackets in the second.

Kevin Ruiz would take a pass from Shay Pate in the 79th minute and place it inside the far post from 10 yards out to give HPU their only score of the game. Concordia added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute to the game the 3-1 final.

Lance Forehand played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording 2 saves.

HPu is now 3-10-2 overall and Concordia stands at 4-11-1 on the year. Howard Payne will finish out the regular season on Saturday in Belton versus the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7:00 pm.
