Jackets Lose In 2nd Half Shootout

PINEVILLE, LA - After a scoreless first period, the Howard Payne men's soccer team fell 4-2 in conference action to Louisiana College in conference action Saturday afternoon.

After the scoreless first half, LC would open up a 3-0 lead with goals in the 66th, 68th and 78th minutes. The Jackets then made it a one goal game with back to back scores just seconds apart.

Shay Pate scored with 82:05 on the clock and just seven seconds later Kevin Ruiz would find the net. The back to back goals were the second fastest consecutive goals scored by an ASC school in conference history. 

LC's then put the game out of reach for the Yellow Jackets with an insurance goal in the 89th minute. Ryan Young got the loss for HPU recording six saves in 90 minutes of work.

HPU is now 3-4-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play. LC stands at 5-2 overall and 2-1 in ASC action. The Jackets will play next on September 29th in Abilene versus Hardin-Simmons at 4:00 pm.
