Jackets Fall In Opener At Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas – After holding an early lead, the Howard Payne baseball team would fall 14-3 to Schreiner University in conference action Friday afternoon.

Sam Dollahite was 3-for-3 from the plate in the game scoring two of the Yellow Jackets' three runs. Dollahite started the Howard Payne scoring reaching home when Carlton Brown was caught stealing second.

Schreiner would then score 10 unanswered runs over the next five innings. Howard Payne added two more to their run total in the eighth. Kyle Kulczyk singled home CJ Schumann and then Dollahite scored on a passed ball.

The Jackets used seven pitchers in relief after the Corey Howie four inning start. Howie gave up eight runs on nine hits striking out three.

Howard Payne is now 14-13 overall and 1-6 in conference. Schreiner stands at 8-18 overall and 1-3 in conference. The two teams will play a double header on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm
