Hannah Hicks finished with nine kills versus Schreiner

BROWNWOOD, Texas -  The Howard Payne women's volleyball team dropped their 2013 home opener 3-0 (21-25,22-25,20-25) to Schreiner University Tuesday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets got behind early in the first set and never seemed to fully recover dropping the set 21-25. They would go on to play stronger in sets two and three but lost 22-25 and 20-25 in the final two sets.

Hannah Hicks and Sarah Bishop led the way for the Lady Jackets with nine kills each. Bishop added 15 digs and Hicks had five total blocks.

Allyson Adams led with 14 assists. Shelby Brigdes added a game high 19 digs. Allison Eaton had 11 assists and Harli Benham also had five total blocks in the game.

Schreiner was led by Callie Du Perier with 13 kills and Jaemi Groves with 32 assists.

Howard Payne is now 7-2 overall and Schreiner improves to 3-6 on the year. The Lady Jackets will play this weekend in Richardson, Texas at UT-Dallas in ASC pod play. HPU will play LeTourneau and Mississippi College on Friday and UT-Tyler and East Texas Baptist on Saturday.
