ABILENE, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team opened their 2014 regular season with a 102-60 loss to NCAA D-I Abilene Christian University Monday evening at Moody Coliseum.
ACU started the game with a 7-0 run and never looked back building a 52-24 half lead. ACU shot 50% from the field while holding the Lady Jackets to 29% shooting.
Howard Payne increased their shooting pct. in the second half hitting on 14 of 29 shots. It would not be enough as the Lady Jackets fell in the end 102-60.
Danyel Bradley led HPU with 19 points six rebounds and four steals. Freshman Cordin Holmes followed with 13 points off the bench.
Sarah Van Remmen added 11 points and five rebounds.
Kalin Hanna had eight points, a team high seven rebounds and game high three blocks.
ACU was led by Alexis Mason with 24 points followed by Suzzy Dimba with 17 points. Lizzy Dimba and Madison Parker added 15 points each.
Howard Payne will have their home opener on Saturday, November 22nd versus Schreiner University at 1:00 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
