BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team won their home opener 58-49 against Schreiner University Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
The Lady Jackets started the game off strong with a seven point lead at 8-1. They carried the momentum throughout the first half.
The Lady Jackets largest lead of the first half came at 32-22 with 3:08 on the clock on a three pointer by
Sarah Van Remmen. The Lady Jackets would carry that through the rest of the 1st half to lead 33-24 at the break.
Howard Payne extended its lead to start the second half eventually taking a 19 point lead 48-29 at 13:37 with a lay-up from
Yessenia Cazares. The HPU reserves would see action in the second as HPU posted the 58-49 victory.

Danyel Bradley had 17 points, 7 rebounds and three steals.
Sarah Van Remmen had 17 points with 8 rebounds.
Corbin Holmes led the Lady Jackets with a game high 10 rebounds and
Kalin Hanna finished with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Schreiner's Sabriyyah Fennal had 15 points for the game with no other teammates scoring in double digits.
Howard Payne is now 1-1 overall and Schreiner falls to 0-4 on the year. The Lady Jackets will play November 29th-30th at the Turkey Classic at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
