BB Takes 1st Game Of Ozarks Series

John Elmore was 3-for-5 from the plate in game one versus Ozarks

Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Ark - The Howard Payne baseball team rolled to a 16-2 victory over the University of the Ozarks in game one of their conference series. Game two of the double header was suspended because of darkness with Ozarks leading 6-3, will be completed on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets scored 16 runs on 15  hits posting five-run second and seventh frames. Howard Payne was up 11-0 after four innings before Ozarks was able to get on the scoreboard with two runs in the fifth.

Matthew Daniel and John Elmore each were 3-for-5 from the plate. Daniel would hit a two-run homer in the third, his first of the season. Will Roberts, Dustin DeJohn and Jake Sadler would all have two hits in the game.

Jacob Spivey got the win for Howard Payne throwing six full innings, giving up two runs on five hits and stricking out four. Kyle Ramon saw one inning in relief.

The second game was suspended in the eighth with Ozarks leading 6-3 due to darkness. It will be completed on Saturday starting at noon followed by another single game to complete the three game series.
