TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball team fell 3-1 to LeTourneau University on day one of the American Southwest Conference crossover tourney hosted by Texas-Tyler.
After dropping the first two sets 17-25 and 17-25, the Lady Jackets rallied to take the third set 25-18.
Despite posting their best hitting pct. of the match in the fourth set, Howard Payne fell 23-25 and dropped the match 3-1 overall.
Micah Cisneroz led Howard Payne with 11 kills and a .208 attack pct.
Shelbie Harry also added nine kills. Briana Williams followed with eight kills along with 16 digs and two service aces.
Cheyanne Lovelady had a career and match high 31 assists for the Lady Jackets.
Analisa Anzaldua would also lead all with a match high 26 digs for HPU.
LETU was led by Dolores Kroese with a match high 17 kills followed by Savanna Stutts with 10.
Howard Payne would have eight service aces to LeTourneau's four but LETU won the battle at the net 11-5.
Howard Payne is now 1-16 overall and LeTourneau stands at 8-15 overall. The Lady Jackets will take on East Texas Baptist on day two of the crossover at 12:30 pm.
