COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team got double digit scoring from four players in a 71-37 rout of Alverno College at the Colorado College Tournament Saturday evening.

With the game tied a 6-6 midway through the first quarter, Howard Payne used a 13-0 run that continued into the second quarter to gain a 19-6 advantage with 8:53 left till the half. The Lady Jackets would lead 30-15 at the break.

Sarahi Castillo, who finished the game with 10 points and 15 rebounds, had 10 rebounds and two blocks in the first half helping spark the Howard Payne run.

The Lady Jackets continued to pull away throughout the second half of the game outscoring Alverno 20-17 in the third and 21-5 in the fourth quarter. 

The Howard Payne capitalized on the 25 Alverno turnovers converting them to 29 points in the game. The Lady Jackets also lead in points in the paint 34-24 and second chance points 18-10.

Howard Payne was led by Presley McKethan with a game high 16 points along with four assists and four steals. Micah Cisneroz added 13 points and eight rebounds. Danyel Bradley has 12 points and four assists. Sarahi Castillo topped it off with her double double of 10 points and game high 15 rebounds.

Alverno was led by Mollie Mikyska with 10 points and Brooke McBain with 10 rebounds.

Howard Payne is now 1-2 overall and Alverno now stands at 2-2 on the year. The Lady Jackets will now travel back to Texas and have road games at D-I University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas on Monday at 6:00 pm and on Tuesday at Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas starting at 6:00 pm.
