GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Howard Payne women's tennis split non-conference team matches on Friday defeating University of the Southwest 7-2 and losing 9-0 to Southwestern University.
The only matches versus University of the Southwest the Lady Jackets would drop would be the number one doubles 8-5 and
Chesney Goza's number two singles match 6-0, 6-2.
Three different HPU singles matches would be won in three sets.
Alex Marlin won in number one singles 2-6, 6-3, 10-4. In number three singles,
Brittony Walker won 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 and in the fourth spot,
Breanna Hunt won 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.
The Lady Jackets dropped the second match of the day 9-0 to Southwestern University.
Alex Marlin and
Brittony Walker dropped a close match in number one doubles 9-8 (5-0). Walker would also fall in a three set number three singles match 2-6, 6-1, 10-5.
Howard Payne is now 2-2 overall and will play next on Feb 26th at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
