BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne baseball team used a team used a five-run fourth to defeat the University of Dallas 6-2 in game one of a non-conference double header. The Yellow Jackets won game two of the double header 8-4.
In the bottom of the fourth, after UDallas scored single runs in the second and third innings,
John Elmore was hit by pitch with the bases loaded to score
Jake Sadler. The a Walker,Dailey walk scored
Will Roberts to tie the game at 2 2.
Next a
Micah Thompson doubled to center field plated Dailey and Elmore. Finally, a Brandon,Garrett singled through the left side scored
Cody Cain to round out the Jackets five-run fourth.
Howard Payne added an insurance run in the 5th when
Will Roberts grounded out to shortstop but scored
Jake Sadler.
Chad Anders recorded his second win of the season throwing four innings in relief and allowing just two hits.
Dustin Kelver went three innings in the start allowing two runs on three hits.
The Jackets jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in game two scoring two in the first and three in the second. UDallas scored two runs in the fourth and fifth frames but the Jackets responded with runs of their own scoring two in the fourth and one in the fifth. HPU went on to claim the 8-4 victory.

Cody Brown and
Connor Roberts were each 2-for-4 from the plate in game two. Brown added two RBIs.
Tyler Colburn recorded the win in the start for Howard Payne. Four other Jacket pitchers were used in relief.
Howard Payne is now 6-8 overall and UDallas stands at 4-11 overall. The Jackets will have a conference series this weekend at home versus the University of Texas at Dallas.
