DALLAS, Texas - The Howard Payne baseball team fell 8-7 in non-conference play to Dallas Christian College Tuesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets would score three runs in the first at-bat. 
John Elmore Single down the right-field line to score 
Micah Thompson and 
Brandon Garrett. 
Jacob Cowling would then single through the left side to score 
Will Roberts.
Dallas Christian tied the game at 3-3 after the fourth and took a 6-3 lead scoring three in the fifth.
The Jackets answered in the next inning scoring four runs to take a 7-6 lead. 
Dustin DeJohn homered to left field. 
Cody Cain and 
Matthew Daniel would each walk with the bases loaded to score a run and 
Trey Franks reaching on an error by the shortstop allowed Garrett to score.
It was a two-run homer to left field by DCC that would put them up for good 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh.
Dustin Kelver recorded the loss in relief allowing two runs on two hits. Five other HPU pitchers saw action with 
Zach Moseley getting the start and striking out three in two innings of work.
Jacob Cowling was 4-for-5 from the plate with an RBI. 
John Elmore finished with two RBI.
Howard Payne is now 10-11 overall and Dallas Christian stands at 14-13 overall. The Jackets will have a home series this next weekend versus conference opponent East Texas Baptist.,
