BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne volleyball team opened up its 5 game home stand with a win, after defeating Sul Ross State University in 3 sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Jackets were firing on all cylinders offensively and defensively picking up 37 team kills, the 2nd highest total this season, and setting season highs in assists at 36 and service aces with 10.
Micah Cisneroz led the team with 13 kills.
Shelbie Harry had 11 marking a new season high.
Alyssa Beasley also had a season high 7 kills.
Cheyanne Lovelady tacked on 17 assists and led with 4 aces, both season highs this season.
Katie Schulte added 14 assists on the match respectively.
Analisa Anzaldua led in digs with 13.
Sul Ross led the match in team digs at 45. McKenna Thomas led with 11 digs. Katie Reeves added 9. Vidalia Sanchez led in kills 6. Elizabeth Livingston added 8 assists on the match.
The Lady jackets are now 1-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Sul Ross sits at 4-9 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. Howard Payne will be back in action on Friday, October 2nd where they will host Concordia University Texas in the Brownwood Coliseum at 7:00 p.m.
