MARSHALL, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's soccer team lost 3-0 to conference opponent East Texas Baptist University Friday evening.

Though matching East Texas Baptist in every category except score, the Yellow Jackets had opportunities to score but struggled to find the net. 

Both teams took 11 shots in the match with ETBU holding a slight 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. Each team had six corner kicks. 

ETBU's first goal came on a penalty kick in the 31st minute to lead 1-0 at the break. The Tigers extended their lead in the second with goals in the 
46th and 66th minutes to round out the 3-0 final.

Alex Sanchez led HPU with four shots, three on goal. Daniel Lemus had three shots, one on goal. Reid Longabaugh added two shots, one on goal.

Nicholas Panameno got the loss in the start for Howard Payne allowing three goals and recording three saves. 

Howard Payne is now 1-8-1 overall and 0-5 in American Southwest Conference action. ETBU stands at 8-5-0 overall and 3-2 league play. The Jackets will take on LeTourneau University on Saturday in Longview, Texas at 7:30 pm.
