RICHARDSON, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's soccer team suffered a 6-1 conference loss to the University of Texas at Dallas Saturday evening on the road.
Andrew Stephenson busted the shutout with a goal in the 76th minute off a free kick assist from
Alex Sanchez from the left side. It was Stephenson's first goal as a Yellow Jacket.
Howard Payne was outshot 38-3 overall and 16-1 in shots on goal by UT-Dallas. The Comets would also lead in corner kicks 11-1.
After leading 2-0 at the half with goals in the 39th and 42nd minutes, UT-Dallas added four more to lead 6-0 with 15 minutes remaining.
Daniel Lemus and
Dylan Person each recorded a shot for HPU along with Stephenson's goal.
In the start in goal,
Nicholas Panameno got the loss going 75 minutes, allowing five goals and recording seven saves.
Brandon McGibeny went the last 15 minutes in goal allowing one goal with three saves.
Howard Payne is now 1-7-1 overall and 0-4-1 in American Southwest Conference action. UT-Dallas improves to 7-3-1 overall and 4-0-1 im league play. The Jackets will play next on Oct. 14th in Marshall, Texas versus East Texas Baptist University starting at 7:30 pm.
