BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University baseball team scored the go ahead run in the eighth to claim the 2-1 conference victory over Sul Ross State University Friday afternoon.
Kyle Ramon captured the victory for HPU after eight innings while
Zach Moseley picked up the save in the top of the ninth. Ramon struck out seven and allowed one unearned run on seven hits.Â

Kyle Moseley came in to throw the ninth retiring his first batter and giving up a walk. The HPU defense carried Moseley to the save handling a left field fly out and a ground out to shortstop to secure the 2-1 win.Â
Noah Payne was the only Jacket with multiple hits in the game going 2-for-4 from the plate. Both teams combined for 13 hits with six being recorded by the Yellow Jackets.
Howard Payne is now 10-8 overall and 6-4 in American Southwest Conference play. Sul Ross drops to 13-12 on the season and 6-4 in ASC competition. Both teams will close out their three-game series with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
