IRVING, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's soccer team fell 5-1 in its season opener to the University of Dallas Thursday afternoon.  

The Yellow Jackets pulled to within two, in the 36th minute on a Josue Vasquez header. The assist would come from Dylan Person making the score 3-1 UDallas. 

Outshooting the Jackets 21-13 overall in the match, UDallas added two addition goals in the 58th and 72nd minutes to make the final score 5-1.

Howard Payne had opportunities to score with five shots on goal and on set pieces garnering six corner kicks to UDallas' three. 

Dylan Person led HPU with three shots, two on goal, followed by Alex Sanchez with two shots. Nicholas Panameno recorded the loss in the start playing the first half in goal recording six saves and allowing three goals. Brandon McGibeney played the final 45 minutes allowing two goals and recording two saves.

The Jackets are will play next on Saturday at Centenary College in Shreveport, LA starting at 6:00 pm.
