ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne women's basketball team was upset by Sul Ross State 81-75 in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon. Lady Jackets now on to hosting ASC Championship Tournament.

Personal fouls plagued Howard Payne all night as Sul Ross State attempted 20 more free-throws that the Lady Jackets. HPU was 11 of 13 at the line while Sul Ross finished the game 26 of 33.

The Lady Jackets forced 25 Sul Ross turnovers while only committing 14 themselves. HPU would lead in almost every category exempt rebounds losing that battle 41-31.

Howard Payne was led by Micah Cisneroz with 22 points. She was 6 for 7 at the free-throw line. Sarahi Castillo followed with 13 points and a game high eight rebounds. Valarie Matlock, Presley McKethan and Jada Evans each finished with three steals.

Katy Boren led Sul Ross with a game high 24 points. Ellyn Avery and Ashley Ousley followed with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Howard Payne finishes the regular season at 15-10 overall and 12-4 in American Southwest Conference action. Sul Ross State stands at 10-15 overall and 7-9 in league play. Howard Payne will host the ASC Chmapionship Tournament on Feb 23-25 in the Brownwood Coliseum. The Lady Jackets will play Louisiana College in the opening round on Thursday, Feb 23rd at 7:30 pm.
