SEGUIN, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team defeated Texas Lutheran University 6-3 to record back to back victories this weekend.
After an 8-1 victory over LeTourneau on Friday at home, the Lady Jackets defeated Texas Lutheran University 6-3 to post back to back wins for the first time this season. Played at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas, Howard Payne started the day taking all three doubles points from Texas Lutheran.
In number one doubles,
Alex Marlin and
Chesney Goza defeated Alli McLain and Madison Dyer of TLU 9-7. In number two doubles,
Brittony Walker and
Callie Molloy won 8-2 and
Breanna Hunt and
Erin McCleer posted a 8-3 victory in number three doubles.
HPU picked up all three of its remaining points in third set tie-breakers. In number three singles,
Erin McCleer won 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7-2), in number five singles Breanna Hunt won 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (8-6) and Callie Molloy posted the final HPU point in number six singles 6-7, 7-6, 1-0 (12-10).

On Sunday afternoon, the Lady Jackets took on Hendrix College in a neutral site match played at Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas. Howard Payne would pick up its only point of the match in number six singles play.
Callie Molloy defeated Hendrix's Sarah Glass in three sets 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-3).

Howard Payne is now 2-9 on the year and will play next on Thursday, March 23rd at home versus Friends University at 2:00 pm and then the next day versus Schreiner University in a non-conference match starting at 2:00 pm.
