BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team defeated Friends University 7-2 Thursday afternoon at the Nabers Tennis Center.

Howard Payne nearly kept Friends scoreless only dropping two singles matches in the third sets. With the 7-2 victory, the Lady Jackets have now won three of their last four matches. 

The Lady Jackets started the day taking all three doubles matches by an 8-0 score. 

In number one singles play, Alex Marlin defeated Michaela Blakley of Friends 6-2, 6-0. Chesney Goza in number four singles defeated Friends' Courtney Temen 6-0, 6-0 and number five singles player Breanna Hunt defeated Abigail Thibodeau of Friends 6-1, 6-2. Finally, Callie Molloy in number six singles won 6-0, 6-0.
