BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Concordia Texas on Friday but rebounded defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor 8-1 on Saturday at the Nabers Tennis Center.
The Howard Payne women's team remains in contention for an American Southwest Conference playoff spot after a convincing 8-1 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday.
On Friday, the Lady Jackets fell 8-1 to Concordia Texas. Despite only winning the number three doubles point, Howard Payne narrowly dropped several other matches.
HPU fell 9-7 and 8-5 in number one and two doubles respectively.Â
Alex Marlin lost in number one singles 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (9-7), 13-11 andÂ
Callie Molloy fell in number six singles 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
The HPU number three doubles team ofÂ
Breanna Hunt and
Erin McCleer won 8-6.

Saturday it was a reversal for Howard Payne with the Lady Jackets only dropping the number one singles match to Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Only one singles match on the day went to three sets,
Breanna Hunt in number five singles defeated UMHB's Shannon Kelly 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 10-6.

Howard Payne is now 4-13 overall and 1-3 in ASC play. The Lady Jackets will play next on April 14th at the University of Texas at Dallas starting at 3:30 pm.
