SHERMAN, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball team started the 2017 season off right with a 3-2 win over Centenary and a 3-0 victory over Paul Quinn College Friday evening at the Austin College Classic.
Zhartezia Bradley led the Howard Payne attack versus Centenary with a match high 20 kills and five blocks.
Cheyanne Lovelady also played a huge role in the victory recording 52 assists along with five service aces.
After the Lady Jackets took the first set 25-22 each team traded sets leading to the final fifth set. Howard Payne pressed to the end claiming the fifth set 15-13 and the match 3-2.
Jordan Rogers added 13 kills and five blocks in her debut match for Howard Payne.
Jordan Livingston led all with a match high 29 digs in her debut.
It was all HPU in the second match of the evening with the Lady Jackets defeating Paul Quinn College 25-6, 25-12, 25-6.
Sarah Papeli had a match high seven kills followed by
Jordan Rogers with six. Lovelady added 16 assist and Livingston ended with 13 digs.
Jaci Frazier recorded an amazing 10 service aces in the match.
Howard Payne is now 2-0 on the year and will play Lawrence University tomorrow at 12:00 noon and host Austin College at 4:00 pm.
