ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team competed at the Fall 2017 American Southwest Conference individual/Doubles Championships this weekend.

Erin Blanchard had the best showing among the Lady Jackets strong outing finishing as the "E" Flight Consolation Champion. After losing her first round match, Blanchard defeated Shannon Kelley of UMHB in 6-0, 6-0 and then defeated Alejandra Rueda of Concordia Texas in the consolation final 6-4, 6-2.

Four other Lady Jackets would lose in the consolation finals, Chesney Goza in "A" Flight, Erin McClure in "C" Flight, Breanna Hunt in "D" Flight and Rosie Cadena in "F" Flight.

Hunt and McCleer had the strongest showing in doubles play making it to the consolation final of "B" Flight.

The Lady Jackets will compete next on Sept. 21-24 at the ITA Regionals in Tyler, Texas hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler.
