BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team opened the 2018 team season with a 6-3 loss to Concordia University Texas Saturday afternoon at the Nabers Tennis Center.

The Lady Jackets claimed one of the three double points to start the match. The Howard Payne number one doubles team of Chesney Goza and Erin Blanchard won 8-6.

Howard Payne recorded its two other points in the match by winning the number one and two singles matches.

In number one singles, HPU's Chesney Goza defeated Leyla Martinez of CTX 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 and in number two singles, HPU's Erin McCleer defeated Hayley Anderson of CTX3-6, 7-5, 10-5.

Howard Payne's next match will be on Friday, Feb. 2nd versus Texas Lutheran University in neutral site match in Kerrville, Texas.
