Brownwood, Texas- The Howard Payne Lady Yellow Jacket Volleyball team dropped a conference match versus the McMurry War Hawks this Tuesday, Sept. 18th.
The Lady Jackets led at some point in all three sets, really pushing McMurry to have to make a lot of adjustments. Howard Payne made a late push in set two to come within one point of leading before McMurry widened the gap and clinched the set. Set three was back and forth, with HPU leading most of the match. McMurry hit a hot streak at the end, scoring 10 of the last 15 to take the match 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-22).
Kailey Doering led the match in kills with 11 followed by Zhartaezia Bradley with 9. Zhartaezia added three blocks and McKenna Walker added 24 assists. Mya Ross and Kylee Shirley both had double digit digs with 11 and 10.
McMurry is now 11-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play while HPU drops to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Lady Jackets will be in Belton this weekend playing in a cross-over tournament. They will play three matches with their first coming on Friday against Louisiana College. First serve will be at 1:00pm on HPUSports.com.
