Belton, Texas- The Howard Payne Lady Yellow Jacket Volleyball team dropped a conference match versus Louisiana College on Friday, Sept. 21st.
It took all five sets to decide this match, with both teams bringing their A-game. Howard Payne made great adjustments after finding themselves down 2-0 to fight back to 2-2. Set five was back and forth, with HPU battling from behind most of the match. With the match tied at 10-10, Louisiana College took control, scoring 5 of the last 8 points to take the win 3-2 (25-16, 25-22, 17-25, 16-25, 15-13).
Zhartaezia Bradley led the match with 16 kills, followed by Kailey Doering's 12. Kylie Metcalf had five blocks and Zhartaezia added three, also. McKenna Walker tallied 41 assists while Mya Ross chimed in with 17 digs.
LC is now 3-7 overall, 2-2 in ASC play, while Howard Payne dropped to 2-7, 1-3 in the ASC.
The Lady Jackets will continue in Belton tomorrow with the cross-over tournament. They will play two matches starting with the University of Texas at Dallas at 1:00pm, and following that match, HPU will take on Belhaven University at 4:00pm.
