TYLER, Texas -
Julissa Ibarra scored a career high 15 points off the bench for Howard Payne University in a 68-59 non-conference loss to the University of Texas at Tyler Saturday afternoon.
After a poor first quarter for Howard Payne, the Lady Jackets battled back to within two, 54-52 midway through the fourth quarter. UT Tyler would connect on three consecutive three point buckets to pull ahead again on the way to the 68-59 final.
Howard Payne hit 11 three-pointers as a team, with
Julissa Ibarra leading going 5 of 9 in the game from beyond the arc. But the Patriots would off set that out rebounded the Lady Jackets 41-24 in the game.
Caprice Brooks followed Ibarra's 15 points with 14 of her own along with six rebounds and two steals.
Salina Ali dished out a game high five assists off the bench.
UT Tyler was led by Carissa Spiker with a game high 27 points and nine rebounds.
Howard Payne will return home next to play Sul Ross State University on Saturday, Jan. 12th at 1:00 pm.
