Brownwood, Texas – The Howard Payne Volleyball Club dropped a non-conference contest against the Mountaineers of Schriner 3-1.
The first set was back and forth until the very end as Schriner came out of the gates with a 25-20 set win. They then dominated the next set 25-13 before HPU stung for a 25-20 set victory. Then, in set four, the Mountaineers got out to a 5-0 lead they never looked back from as they won the set 25-18 and the match 3-1,
Amaya Marshall led the club with 8 kills. Canyon Hughes defended the net well stacking up 5 blocks followed by Amaya Marshall's 4. Kennedy Sam tallied 9 assists and Kylee Shirley added 23 digs in the contest.
The Lady Jackets step back to 2-15 on the season, 0-6 in ASC confernce play. They will be on the road this weekend in Abilene to take on the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls. The first serve will be at 1:00 on Saturday, Oct. 5th.
