Abilene, Texas – The Howard Payne Volleyball Club came up short in an ASC contest against the Cowgirls of Hardin-Simmons dropping the match 3-0.
Rivalry games make for some tough match ups and that was definitely the case in this contest. Hardin-Simmons came out hot taking the first set 25-12. The Lady Jackets tried to bounce back in set two but went down 21-15. Finally, in set three, both teams put out their best effort going back and forth with 14 lead changes. HSU ended the match with a 5-1 run which gave them the set and match win.
Mya Ross and Ciara Chappel led the Lady Jackets in kills with 4. Amaya Marshall defended the net with a match leading 4 blocks and Kaitlyn Elsten added 6 assists. Kylee Shirley led the match with 14 digs as well.
The Lady Jackets fall to 2-16 on the season, 0-7 in ASC play. They will continue their road trip down to Belton in a rematch against Mary-Hardin Baylor. The Crusaders won the first matchup on Sep. 10th, 3-0. The first serve will be at 6:00 pm.
