EDINBURG, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team dropped an exhibition game 93-42 to D-I UT-Rio Grande Valley Monday evening.

Howard Payne was led by Timothy Aguero with 15 points followed by Jase Miguez with 13 points. As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot 40% from the field but it was UT-RGV's 58.7% shooting that proved to be the difference in the contest.

Down 61-29 at the half, the Jackets were able to hold UT-RGV to 32 points in the second half. In the final, the Jackets would be outrebounded 39-19 by UT-RGV.

Along with his team high 15 points, Aguero was 7 of 7 from the free-throw line in the game for the Jackets.

UT-RGV was led by Quinton Johnson with 19 points followed by Jordan Jackson with 15 points.

The Lady Jackets will play their next regular season game at Texas Lutheran University this Friday, Nov. 15th at 8:00 pm. It will be a double headed with the HPU women, that game to start at 6:00 pm
