BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne University rallied back from a 10 point halftime deficit but fell short 65-64 to non-conference opponent Southwestern University Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Chelsey Harris' potential game winning shot at the buzzer just rimmed out aa the Lady Jackets fell 65-54 to Southwestern University.
At the start of the fourth quarter, the Lady Jackets used a 7-0 run to tie the game at 53-53 with 7:17 left on a
Bria Neal layup.
HPU was be able to tie the game two more times but after Southwestern went one of two on free throws with two seconds left in the game, the Lady Jackets would have one final attempt to win the game.
Trailing by one, 65-64, HPU
Chelsey Harris had a great look at the basket on a drive and her shot would roll around and out as the game expired.
Off the bench for HPU,
Bria Neal finished with a game high 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Delaney Ingram added 14 points, on 7 of 9 shooting, and six rebounds.
Chelsey Harris followed with 10 points and a team high nine rebounds.
Southwestern was led by Noel Pratts with 19 points followed by Cecily Woolfolk with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Howard Payne won the rebounding battle 42-36 over Southwestern but it was the Pirates shooting 13 more free-throw attempts than the Lady Jackets that was a major factor in the outcome.
Howard Payne now stands at 1-2 overall and Southwestern is 2-3 on the year. The Lady Jackets will travel next to UT- Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas on Tuesday for a 5:30 pm non-conference game.
