ODESSA, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team hit 13 three-pointers in a 75-63 victory over DII University of Texas - Permian Basin Tuesday evening.

Chelsey Harris's three 4th quarter three pointers secured the win for HPU. The Lady Jackets would lead by as much as 17 points in the game, 59-42 going into the fourth quarter.
It was a solid shooting night for the Lady Jackets connecting on 46.3% of their shots from the field and 54.2% from behind the arc (13 of 24). HPU also held UTPB to just 30% shooting on the night, 16.7% from long range.
Despite being out rebounded 44-26, the Lady Jackets had their best night of the season at the free-throw line making 17 of 21 (81%).
Chelsey Harris led all scorers with 22 points along with five assists and four steals.
Lily Janek had 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting, 3 of 4 from long range.
Mallory Garcia had 11 points.
Anastasia Willis and
Salina Ali each finished with nine points. Willis added a game high 10 rebounds.
For UTPB, Lemia Ntor-Ue had 16 points and Holly Hemmeline followed with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Howard Payne is now 2-2 overall on the season and UTPB stands at 3-4 on the year. The Lady Jackets will travel to Alpine, Texas this weekend for the ASC-SCAC Challenge hosted by Sul Ross State. HPU will play Schreiner on Saturday at 3:00 pm and St. Thomas (TX) on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
