ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team competed at the 2019 American Southwest Conference Individuals/Double Championships this weekend.
In the "C" draw, HPU's Dominic Denardo and Ben Blanchard fell in their first match but turned around and defeated East Texas Baptist. They later fell in the "B" draw consolation finals 7-6 to a team from Hardin-Simmons.
Albert Hernandez and
Peyton Jost would also lose in the "E" draw consolation final to a team from McMurry. Hernadez and Jost defeated a team from East Texas Baptist 6-2 to reach the consolation final.
In the "D" draw, it was
Hunter Green and
Jonathan Villareal defeating a team from East Texas Baptist giving them a win in their final match.
In singles play, Denardo picked up a victory in his final match of "C" draw over Andrew Deutsch of ETBU.Â
The Yellow Jackets will play next at the ITA West Regional Single/Doubles tournament, September 26th-29th in Georgetown, Texas.
