BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne University football team moved to 2-2 overall after a 65-0 conference loss to #1 ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday evening.
The Yellow Jackets would struggle offensively in the game posting only 38 yards of offensive in the first half and 42 yards in the second.
The Jackets would force UMHB to punt on its first drive but with a fake on 4th and four UMHB went on to score in the opening drive of the game.
It was a 48-0 halftime lead for the Crusaders with 405 yards of total offense.
HPU's
Caleb Estes was 7 of 12 passing form 37 yards with one interception. Playing in the second half,
Jeric Smith was 10 of 15 passing for 20 yards.
Jake Parker led HPU with three receptions for 35 yards
Ryan Hirt had 24 yards on 12 carries.
Zeno Barnum had five tackles and
Austin Killgore followed with four.
Yellow Jacket
McGwire Martin had 11 punts for 402 yards (36.5) and a long of 55 yards.
The Yellow Jackets will take on Louisiana College at home next week. It will be a 1:00 pm kickoff at Gordon Wood Stadium.
