BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team posted a 32-point fourth quarter but fell 75-71 to conference opponent Belhaven University Thursday evening.
Down by as much as 23 points in the second half, the Lady Jackets outscored the Blazers 32-19 in the fourth quarter shooting 52.4% from the floor.
Howard Payne tied the game at 67-67 on a layup by
Chelsey Harris with 2:11 left in the game. Harris finished the game with 20 points and six rebounds.
The Lady Jackets grabbed an amazing 70 rebounds (25 offensive) while Belhaven posted 59 boards on the night.
Following Harris' 20 points was
Bria Neal with 12 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Peyton Papenburg led Belhaven with 21 points and 10 rebounds followed by Keke Lyles with 20 points.
Howard Payne is now 5-6 overall and 1-1 in American Southwest Conference play. Behaven stands at 8-2 overall and 1-0 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play again on Saturday versus conference opponent Louisiana College at 1:00 pm.
