ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team moved to 2-2 in league play after a 75-63 loss at McMurry University Thursday evening.
With the game tied at 34-34 at the half, the Lady Jackets would be outscored in the final two periods sparked by 50% shooting for the War Hawks.
McMurry outrebounded Howard Payne 52-38 and held the Lady Jackets to under 30% shooting from the field in the second half.
Free-throws played a factor for HPU with the Lady Jackets going 20 of 34 (58.8%) on the night.
Howard Payne was led by
Bria Neal with a game high 18 points with 12 rebounds.
Chelsey Harris followed with 15 points.
Cassidy Melton led McMurry with 15 points and Tyler Reyna with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Howard Payne stands at 6-7 overall and 2-2 in American Southwest Conference play. McMurry is now 8-3 overall and 1-3 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at 1:00 pm versus Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas.
