ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team picked up an 89-53 loss on the road at Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon.
Howard Payne struggled from the field connecting on just 26.6% of its shots, 17.4% from three-point range. Sul Ross would shoot 43.8% from the field, 35.9% from behind the arc.
The Lobos jumped out t an early lead and never looked back holding a 53-29 advantage at the haldtime break.
Howard Payne was led by
Jase Miguez with nine points followed by
Luke Cox and
Tyrell Thompson with seven points each.Â
BJ Hollis led Sul Ross with 16 points with Cailin Bond adding 14 points.
Howard Payne is now 1-18 overall and 0-10 in American Southwest Conference action. Sul Ross stands to 11-8 overall and 8-2 in league play. The Jackets will be on the road next week playing at Concordia Texas in Austin, Texas on Thursday at 7:30 pm and at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
