BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 90-75 to Hardin-Simmons University Thursday evening in conference action at the Brownwood Coliseum.
The Jackets played solid in the first half and trailed 45-42 at the break. After going 7 of 15 from the three-point line in the first half, the Yellow Jackets would only hit one in the second half.
Howard Payne shot just 39.7% from the field in the game but would force 20 Hardin-Simmons turnovers while being out rebounded 44-31.
HPU was led by
Jase Miguez with 19 points fllowed by
Tyrell Thompson and
Joshua Taylor with 13 points each.
Jacob Smith added 10 points and
Jayden Modrall gabbed a team high six rebounds.
Keenan Holdman led HSU with 21 points followed by Neal Chambliss with 16 points.
Howard Payne is now 1-21 overall and 0-13 in American Southwest Conference action. Hardin-Simmons stands at 10-12 overall and 6-7 in league play. The Jackets will take on McMurry University Saturday afternoon at home, it will be a 3:00 pm tip off.
