Hill With Four Hits In DH Losses

LONGVIEW, Texas - Howard Payne University's Kayla Hill recorded four hits in the Lady Jackets 9-1 (5) and 4-3 losses at LeTourneau University Friday evening.

Game One
LeTourneau scored three runs in each of the first three innings eventually claiming the game 9-1 in five innings.

Howard Payne scored its only run in the fourth when Melinda Medoza, who pitch ran for Kayla Hill, scored after Tori Muro reached on an error by the second baseman.

Tia Campos recorded the loss for HPU in the start. She threw 2.0 innings allowing eight runs on eight hits. Olivia Rivera threw 2.0 innings of relief allowing one run on two hits and striking out three.

Game Two
Howard Payne used a three-run fifth to tie the game at 3-3 but LeTourneau scored again in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead.

In the fifth, Aurora Luera doubled down the left line to score Tonya Thompson. Next Kiley Persons singled to left field to plate Luera.

After two stolen bases by Persons, Alexis Sullivan had a sac fly to center field to score Persons.

Alexis Sullivan and Kayla Hill had two hits each for the Lady Jackets. Zalayna Perez had the no decision in the start allowing three runs on five hits in three innings of work. Hannah Morales struckout three in the final three innings, she allowed one run on four hits.

Kayla Hill finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate.

Howard Payne now stands at 3-8 overall and LeTourneau is 8-3 on the year. The two teams will finish out the series on Saturday with a single game starting at 11:00 am.
