BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University softball team took the first two games of its series with the University of Texas at Dallas 9-1 (6) and 2-1 Friday afternoon.
HPU's
Tia Campos recorded the complete game victory in game one and
Bree Cason recorded her first win of the season in game two.
Game One
The Lady Jackets used a five-run third inning to break a 1-1 tie. With UTD committing three errors in the game, HPU outhit UTD 7-4 in the 9-1 six inning final.
Alexis Sullivan led the Lady Jackets at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Olivia Rivera and
Kayla Anderson each added two RBI each.
Tia Campos got the win in the start allowing just one run on four hits.

Game Two
Brianna Lopez scored in the bottom of the sixth when
Kayla Anderson reached on an error by the short stop to give HPU a 2-1 lead.
HPU got its other run in the fourth on a Kayla Hil sacrifice fly to plate
Kiley Persons.
Kiley Persons led the Lady Jackets going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Bree Cason gor the win in relief throwing the final 4.2 innings allowing just two hits and striking out three.
Hannah Morales when just .1 innings in the start and
Zalayna Perez threw 2.0 innings of middle relief.
Howard Payne improves to 5-9 overall and 2-6 in American Southwest Conference action. UT Dallas stands 4-12 overall and 2-6 in league play. The two teams will finish out their three-game series on Saturday with a single game starting at 12:00 noon.
