Brownwood, Texas - The Howard Payne Baseball Club dropped a conference double header 6-0 and 11-1 to the University of Texas Dallas Comets on Saturday afternoon.
Game One
Howard Payne's four hits weren't able to get the offense going in the first game of the double header as they dropped the contest 6-0.
Carson Wert had two hits for the Jackets and led the offense. Dodson got the start for the Jackets and lasted 5 innings while giving up five hits, six runs, five earned, and he struck out six. Landin Blass tossed one inning and gave up two hits.
Game Two
The Jacket pitchers weren't able to keep the Comet offense at bay after giving up 11 earned runs on 13 hits.
Howard Payne's lone run came in the 5th inning and the game ended with an 11-1 final score.
Stephen Prewitt led the Jacket offense with three hits. Kyle Purdes got the nod and tossed five innings while allowing seven runs, and 10 hits. Johnny Cravey and Ty Garner saw some time on the mound. Bryant Chambers threw one hit and struck out two.
The Jackets drop to 7-10, 4-5 in ASC play, and will gear up to head to San Antonio, Texas on Monday to battle the Knights of New Jersey City University. The first pitch will be at 1:00 pm and you can find links to live stats and video at HPUSports.com.
