BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team dominated from start to finish in a 90-58 victory over the Dallas Christian College Crusaders Monday evening in non-conference action.
The Howard Payne defense held Dallas Christian to just 25% shooting from the field and forced 23 turnovers to cruise to a 32-point win in the non-conference match-up.
The Lady Jackets also out rebounded the Crusaders 52-45 in the game while also blocking 11 shots. Howard Payne shot a solid 50.8% from the field in the game.
After holding a 42-30 advantage at the half, the Lady Jackets posted a 31-point third quarter to put the game out of reach for the Crusaders. HPU then extend the lead to as much as 36 points late in the fourth quarter.
In a game that every Lady Jacket that suited up scored, HPU's
Lily Janek led the team in scoring with 14 points on 4 of 6 three-point shooting.
Bria Neal had a great overall game with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.Â
Delaney Ingram had 10 points and three blocks.
Salina Ali had five assists and
Kayla Brigance had four blocks.
Dallas Christian was led by Keiarra Rivers with 16 points.
The Lady Jackets now stand at 2-3 overall and Dallas Christian falls to -1-5 on the year. With this Thursday's game at Louisiana College being postponed, HPU will play next on Saturday, Jan. 9th at Belhaven University in Jackson, MS at 1:00 pm.
