BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team shutout Belhaven University 1-0 on Saturday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.

The Lady Jacket defense prevented the Blazers from scoring and held them to only two total shots and one on goal.

Kate Recendez scored the lone goal of the evening in the 73rd minute of the match on an assist from Katie Burnside to give HPU the 1-0 victory.

Delaney Castor played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU, allowed zero goals, and recorded one save. 

Howard Payne improves to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the American Southwest Conference. Belhaven falls to 6-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.

The Lady Jackets will play again on Oct. 7th at Citizens National Bank Soccer Field. The match will begin at 1:00 PM.
