Brownwood, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets defeated the Sul Ross University Lobos 3-2 in Saturday's conference finale at HPU's Citizens National Bank Field. HPU will play next in the opening round of the ASC tournament on Tuesday at McMurry University.

HPU's Carrie Gerdes scored the first goal in the 6th minute of the game, with an assist by Lexi De La Cruz.

Lexi De La Cruz then added the remaining two goals with one assist from Addison Buesing.

The Lobo's stayed up with the Lady Jackets making it a 2-2 match up until the 79th minute when HPU's De La Cruz recorded her second score and game winner.

Delaney Castor played all 90 minutes for the Lady Jackets recording 5 saves, only allowing 2 goals.

The Lady Jackets outshot the Lobos 20 to 12 in the match.

The season record for the Lady Jackets is now 11-5-1 overall, and 6-3-1 in conference. Sul Ross' season ends with an 1-11-0 overall and 0-10-0 conference record.

Howard Payne will advance to the ASC Conference tournament and play at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd. at 7:00 pm
