BELTON, Texas - The Howard Payne University football team dropped a conference matchup with #2 ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 59-14 Saturday afternoon at Crusader Stadium.
Howard Payne led Mary Hardin-Baylor 14-0 midway through the first quarter but the Cru would score 59 answered points to claim the game 59-14.
HPU struck first on its first play from scrimmage when

Jake Parker for a 70 yard TD reception. 7-0 Jackets.
On the Jackets next possession, McKinney connected with Parker again this time from 35 yards out to make it 14-0 Jackets with 11:31 left in the first quarter.
Parker finished the game with three receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns. McKinney, who did not play in the second half was 3 of 9 passing for 115 yards and two TDs.
Nick Infante was 14 of 29 passing for 147 yards.
The Jacket defense was led by
Dai'Shawn Fisher and
Kyle Bell with 10 tackles each. Fisher also assisted on a sack and had two tackles for loss.
Jarett Brown added seven tackles.
Howard Payne is now 6-3 overall and 5-3 in American Southwest Conference play. UMHB stands at 9-0 overall and 8-0 in league action. The Yellow Jackets will finish out the season at home next week versus Austin College. It will be a 1:00 pm kickoff and the HPU seniors will be recognized before the game.
